Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principle of physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. It includes the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for design, production and operation of machines and tools.

Mechanical engineering requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, structural analysis and theory of automation. Mechanical engineers use all these core principles along with tools like computer aided engineering and production management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, robotics and others.

The course designed for mechanical engineering is based on practical work, problem solving activity and work assignments. Through internship students are trained in industries which develop their practical confidence that is the demand of so many employers. The mechanical engineering program is designed to meet the criteria adopted by the higher education commission of Pakistan (HEC) and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Subject curriculum remains in review by the university’s board of studies.
