Department of Mechanical Engineering is established with the Affiliation of University of Engineering & Technology (UET) Lahore. Mechanical Engineering program provides unyielding foundation of mathematical, scientific and engineering knowledge and develop the practical skills that will serve students throughout their career.


The program aims to provide Pakistan with high caliber engineers needed for the development of the country. Well qualified and competent faculty members are available in the department. Mechanical Engineering is highly versatile and diversified engineering discipline.


On one hand it is concerned with the design of machines and equipment that use energy and convert it into useful work. On the other hand it deals with the design and development of machines that are used for manufacturing or production equipment.


Message from Head of Department


The Department of Mechanical Engineering is dedicated to continued innovation through its high-quality academic program. The department offers undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, which cover a wide spectrum of fields while keeping up with their fast pace of technological advancement. Department of Mechanical Engineering offers high-quality courses aimed at individuals who can amicably meet these challenges. The program of studies enables them to read the team of future young engineers and to realize their innovative ideas.

We consider educating and nourishing the next generation of engineers as a key role in the technological development of the society.The faculty at Mechanical Engineering Department is equipped with vast academic and research experience and is instrumental in providing excellence both theoretically and practically. Chenab College will fulfill its responsibility of graduating culturally enlightened, technologically knowledgeable, and academically competent and research-oriented productive citizens who are prepared to lead, to inspire, and to serve humanity.

To provide an excellent learning and research environment, inculcating professional competence, entrepreneurship, analytical skills into the graduates for the techno-industrial and socio-economic development of the country.


Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)


The Department of Mechanical Engineering has designed following Educational Objectives for Mechanical Engineering program through brainstorming with faculty and keeping in view of Departments' mission, Institute's Vision and stakeholders' requirements. The following PEOs have been defined in consultation with the Departmental Faculty Members and Industry. The graduates of Mechanical Engineering program will have following capabilities/ skills / attributes four years after their graduation;

PEO-1:Have necessary knowledge and skills in mechanical engineering resulting in professional success.
PEO-2: Having innovative mindset for research and to provide solutions for industrial problems.
PEO-3: Undertake professional practice considering ethical, societal and environmental implications.
PEO-4: Be engaged in lifelong learning and professional growth through continuing education.


Programs Learning Outcomes (PLOs)


PLO-01: Engineering Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PLO-02: Problem Analysis: An ability to identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
PLO-03: Design/Development of Solution: An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PLO-04: Investigation: An ability to investigate complex engineering problems in a methodical way including literature survey, design and conduct of experiments, analysis and interpretation of experimental data and synthesis of information to derive valid conclusions.
PLO-05: Modern Tool Usage: An ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
PLO0-6: The Engineer and Society: An ability to apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solution to complex engineering problems.
PLO-07: Environment and Sustainability: An ability to understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
PLO-08: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
PLO-09: Individual and Team Work: An ability to work effectively, as an individual or in a team, on multifaceted and /or multidisciplinary settings.
PLO-10: Communication: An ability to communicate effectively, orally as well as in writing, on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PLO-11: Project Management: Ability to demonstrate management skills and apply engineering principles to one’s own work, as a member and/or leader in a team, to manage projects in a multidisciplinary environment.
PLO-12: Life-Long Learning: An ability to recognize importance of, and pursue lifelong learning in the broader context of innovation and technological developments.
